Go All The Way For Jesus
So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust]. Revelation 3:16 (Amplified Bible, AMP)
These are strong words and some believe God was speaking to those who sat on the fence and hem-hawed around about getting saved. However, this is from a portion in Revelation that was written to the churches in Asia. It was written to believers. It was written as a warning to all of us who are born-again. God wants us to be all-in for Him, not playing games about serving Him.
Jesus didn’t just halfway die on the cross, He went all the way- all the way to hell and back. He gave it all for us. We have no right to hold back any part of our lives from Him. Either we want everything He has to give us or we don’t want Him at all. It’s that simple.
We have to be willing to give everything to Him- everything we own, everything we do, every word and act. Our lives should be lived through the lens of the Word of God. What we do should line up with the Bible. If it doesn’t, then something needs to change.
Some people cannot live in line with the Bible because they never took time to read it and they don’t even know what’s in it. This is why we have churches ordaining people who live lifestyles contrary to the Word. This is why our church services have become more about entertainment than about training and equipping. That is why believers are sick and don’t take advantage of the healing that Jesus provided. That’s why the church is powerless and weak and ineffective. That’s why the world is going to hell faster than you can spell h-e-l-l.
Can we change the entire church? Probably not all at once, but can do something about our own lives. We can choose to turn away from the things that draw us away from the Word and time in His presence. We can turn off the TV and open our Bibles. We can quit going to Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and we can fall to our knees and share our hearts with the Lord instead of virtual strangers. We can remove ourselves from relationships that pull us away from Christian values. We can stand for Christ in a world that is mocking and spitting on Him. We can choose to stop worrying what people think and sell out to the Lord Jesus Christ.
This might sound radical to you. It might sound like I’m asking you to go too far. Jesus was considered a radical by the “establishment” of His day. He expects us to do the same now. The men who followed Jesus as His closest disciples, with the exception of Judas, lived lives that were totally sold-out to Him. Everything they did revolved around Jesus Christ. And most of them were martyred for Him- some in very unpleasant ways. Living for Jesus means giving Him everything- and I mean everything.
All of us who profess to be believers in Jesus Christ need to wake up and quit playing games. God is about to clean house across the world, and He’s going to start with His church. If you’re only living for Him halfway, now is the time to give Jesus the parts of you and the parts of your life that you’ve been holding back. Become a radical for Jesus. You’re either in all the way or you’re not. Don’t be lukewarm. Ask the Holy Spirit to ignite you and then live a life on fire for Jesus Christ.
