Turn Loose of the Old to Lay Hold of the New
As born-again Christians we must let old things fall off of us. I’m talking about wrong mindsets, bad attitudes, cares, worries, regrets, failures, the past, sins, weights, bondages, and the like. Let these things fall off so you can rise up to the place He has for you.
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Ephesians 2:5-6 (KJV)
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. Isaiah 58:14 (KJV)
Jesus didn’t die to give us freedom and a new life just so we could continue to let old bondages and weights hold us down and slow our progress. We need to shake off the old problems that have clung to us for so long. It is time to turn loose of the old to lay hold of the new.
We need to quit falling for the same old traps that have been set by the devil. We shouldn’t keep struggling with the same old messes. It is time to rise up and surrender to the work that the Holy Spirit has been trying to do in us. We have to stop fighting Him and give Him the parts of our lives that need His attention. Christ has risen and He rose us up with Him. What made us fall need not make us fall anymore.
God is the glory and the lifter of our heads. He will cause us to rise and fall no more; to ride with Him in high and heavenly places. And as we rise more and more, one day we will find He has elevated us all the way to heaven to be with Him forever.
