Count Your Blessings, Not The Battles

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)

We are to bless God, the Blesser, for blessing us with all spiritual blessings. Notice that God is not going to bless us- He has already done it. Consider and count all of God’s blessings. The term “spiritual blessings” covers anything we may need. It starts in the spirit realm and manifests in our lives. As we bless, or praise, God for all His blessings, we will see what has been provided for us manifest through Christ.

The blessing is in Christ, and we’re in Christ. Positionally, we are with Christ in heavenly places, which is where the blessing comes from. We can begin to enjoy all that has been provided- we do not have to wait until we die and go to heaven.

Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's….Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. II Chronicles 20:15, 17 (KJV)

As we face a battle, don’t identify and count how hard, difficult, wrong, painful, and long everything is.Don’t focus on the battle, but on the blessings. We have more blessings than struggles- the blessings always outweigh the battles. Count your blessings. Think on and look at what God has done for you. Consider what He will do. Reflect on God’s promises, not the problems.

When we count our blessings, we get the right perspective, and we remember that the battle is not bigger than the blessings and the One who blesses us. We see that the battle is the Lord’s and He will give us the spoils of victory without us doing any fighting. Battles are swallowed up by blessings.

As we count our blessings and praise God for them, we do our part to ensure victory and enforce it. We must bless God at all times and not complain about the battles. Battles don’t last, but blessings do. Battles are temporary, but blessings are eternal.

Battles come from the enemy to steal our blessing, but as we bless God, our blessings are protected. The battle is the Lord’s, and the blessings are ours. The more we bless and praise God, the more God blesses us. As we praise God, every battle is won and every blessing is done!
