Let God Do His Work In You
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:13 (New International Version, NIV)
God works deep in us to change us, not to leave us where we are. He doesn’t want us full of hurts, weaknesses, and so forth, but instead He wants us to find help in Him. God lovingly helps us, dealing with us in lovingkindness and not with condemnation or ridicule. He works with us to deal with root issues that have been seated in us for a very long time.
God knows who we are, what we’ve done, and where we’ve been. He also knows where we need to be and He works in us and on us, line upon line, here a little there a little. In the process, He changes our wrong mindsets, attitudes, behavior problems, addictions, and unhealthy emotions. He doesn’t leave us where we are, but changes us more and more by the renewing of our minds to His Word and by His Spirit.
Holy Spirit sees us and knows us better than we know ourselves. He understands why we are the way we are, and He gently explores the hidden places of our hearts to expose and remove things that need to be extracted. This change can be painful, but, as God cuts things out of us by His Word, He pours His healing anointing in us by His Spirit to heal, restore, and make us whole.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV)
God wants our entire spirit, soul, and body preserved blameless until Jesus comes for us. He won’t give up on us, but will work in us step by step to bring us to a place of wholeness. It is encouraging to know that He will be walking us through this process until we see Him face-to-face.
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 (New International Version, NIV)
