Resting From A Place of Victory

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world…. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Hebrews 4:2-3, 9-11 (KJV) emphasis mine

As we hear God’s Word, we are to mix faith with it. When we believe, we rest. God offers us rest, so receive it and rest. When we rest in Christ’s finished works, we cease from our works of the flesh and trust in Him.

Rest in this passage is the Greek word katapausis, which denotes a causing to cease or a putting to rest. The word labour means to be diligent, serious, earnest. We must be diligent, serious and earnest about entering the rest of salvation. We must pursue this rest, be diligent to rest, and remain in rest. We rest from our striving and trying to get God to do something that’s already been done. If we don’t rest, we enter back into the works of the flesh, which never works. The flesh profits nothing.

However, when we believe Christ and what He’s accomplished for us, we rest in God, in a place of peace, calmness, assurance, and confidence. We’re free from striving, worries, and cares. We cast our care on God and rest in His care. We’re not trying to get victory, healing, and prosperity. We simply receive it by faith and we rest in God by faith.

Rest in your victory because it has already been paid for. It has already been given to you. Only believe and receive it.. The battles is the Lord’s and His alone, so rest.
