Thank God For God
I am so thankful for God. He is Love. He is merciful, kind, and faithful. Everything we’ll every need or want is found in Him. So much of the time we express our thanks to God for what He does, but how often do we simply thank Him for Who He is?
But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15 (New Living Translation, NLT)
There is no one or no thing that is like or can even remotely compare to the Lord God. He loves us unconditionally. He gave His life to give us life, and He helps us to live victoriously. Without Him, all things would cease to exist. We would cease to exist. We are held together by the Word of His Power (Hebrews 1:3). God and His Word are One so if He didn’t exist, the Word would not exist, which means we would not exist.
Consider all the love songs ever written. If we were to take all of the sentiments and lovely things we’ve sung or spoken about regarding another person, God far surpasses them all. Mere words cannot express how wonderful the Lord is. As the popular Christian song says, He is indescribable. Because we love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, our hearts overflow with love and gratitude that we honestly cannot adequately express. However, we should try. Our God is worthy of praise, worship, and adoration.
The great thing is that God is not looking for us to blow Him away with flowery words and creative rhyme. All He wants is us. And He’s blessed when we thank Him from our hearts. True love and worship come from the heart, and God knows what is in our hearts. So, even if our words seem insufficient to thank Him like we want to, He knows what’s in our hearts and our simple, heart-felt words will be enough.
