Negative and Positive
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)
Today I want to point out something about negative (-) and positive (+).
The minus sign, which is a horizontal line (-), can symbolize man’s negativity when he’s not pointed towards God. He lives life horizontally, living a life that is concerned with things on his own level; other people and worldly things. Man turned away from God, making him and his life negative due to sin, the fall, and satan. And now, mankind tries to negatively live their lives on their own, trying to make their own way in the world without God. Separated from God, man became negative in his existence because he did not know or walk with God. Sin brings death, sickness, misery- the curse. These are all negative.
However, Christ came to make man’s life positive, that is to bring Him back to God. Man was living horizontally- with only earthly connections. Christ came down and put His vertical connection with God over man’s negative, thus forming a cross (+). All of the wrong is crossed out by the cross of Christ. He crossed out all the negative that had happened to man. The connection to God has been restored so man can connect with God and with his fellow man. We can now live positive lives. Instead of death, we have life. Instead of the curse, we have the blessing. Instead of separation from God, we have reconciliation.
Jesus turned man’s negative dilemma into a positive situation. The minus (-) became a plus (+). Now we can be positive regardless of the negativity in the world, and when negative things happen, we can speak God’s positive Word to turn it into a positive. Without God, life is negative, but when we receive Christ, He turns it to a positive.
