Who Do You Trust?

The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper. Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe. Proverbs 28:25-26 (New International Version, NIV)

People- some trust in the Lord; but many trust in themselves.

In order to truly prosper, we must trust God. As believers, when we trust in the Lord to prosper us, He will do exactly that. He may prosper us through ideas or witty inventions. He may prosper us by connecting us with people who have influence. He may prosper us by putting us in the right place at the right time. He may prosper us by showing us ways to avoid loss or calamity. There are numerous ways He can do it, and as we rely on and look to God, He will supply all we need.

The fool trusts in himself. Some don’t want God. They take pride in being self-reliant rather than God-reliant, thus rejecting God and His help. I’ve lived both ways, and I’ll take God’s help and insight over my own any day!

To put it simply, this is basically a world of two kinds of people: prideful and humble. Prideful people reject God and reject His help. Many people are prideful but they don’t think they are. Shy, quiet, unsure people can be prideful just as much as loud, boasting people. If you think you can handle life without Jesus, there is pride in your heart. Humble people see and acknowledge that there is a God and they turn to Him for help.

I’d like to ask you today: who are you trusting? If you put your trust in yourself and your own ability, you will consistently fail and fall short. Instead, trust in God, who never fails and is always faithful. Choose this day whom you will serve and trust.

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Joshua 1:5 (New International Version, NIV)
