The Power of Agreement- Part 1

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (KJV)

When people are in agreement, it forms a cord of unity that brings protection and companionship. When we agree, there’s unity that protects us from division and ultimately from defeat. A threefold cord could be God, another, and you. As we agree with each other, we can walk with each other, loving, helping, and supporting one another so the enemy can’t separate and conquer us. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:19-20 (KJV)

As we agree and come together in Jesus’ name, Jesus is in our midst, releasing prayer power. We can agree on something and see it come to pass in our lives. We are stronger together than we are on our own. we can accomplish more united than individually- and in less time using less energy, thus staying strong for the long haul. When we bind ourselves together with the invisible cords of love and unity, we can face anything together. God never called us to be the Lone Ranger or Superman. Even Jesus had 12 disciples. Paul had Timothy. We need other people- a pastor and a church home. We need family and friends. We need people. God made us this way.

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: Hosea 11:4 (KJV)

This speaks of cords of kindness and bands of love. We need to let God bind us to His kindness and love so the cords that bind us together are not broken. Then we won’t allow offense or unforgiveness to cut our cords. Instead, God’s love will be stronger than any division, and He will hold us all together by His love. Rather than fighting one another, we will love and help each other. Instead of tearing one another down, we’ll build each other up.

When we’re united, we can fight the real enemies: the devil and his demons, and run them out of our lives. The power of agreement gives us power to overcome every foe.
