Rely On God

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. II Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; I Corinthians 1:27 (KJV)

Weaknesses show how much we need God. We can depend on God. He will help us change. Our weaknesses get us out of the way and give God an opportunity to show us what He can do for us. Yet, God uses our weaknesses so His power and strength can flow through us to demonstrate His grace.

Is there an area of your life where you’ve been struggling to overcome your own shortcomings? Maybe its a habit you want to break, an addiction you want delivered from, a skill you think needs improving, a relationship you can’t seem to fix. Whatever it is, when you admit your own inability to overcome it, that’s when God can take over and take you over the top.

God’s grace; His power and ability, is enough for us. It’s enough to help us overcome weaknesses of any kind. Glory in your weaknesses to give God glory. He is glorified in spite of our weaknesses because Christ’s power can rest on us to overcome the areas where we struggle. God’s grace is what makes us who God says we are and enables us to do what He has called us to do.

The more we rely on God the less we have to rely on ourselves. We work with God, but it is His work by His Spirit, and not our works of the flesh that changes us. We are in God and He is in us, so God can be strong in us when we are weak in ourselves. Rely on God, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
