The Beginning And The End

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8 (KJV)

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Revelation 22:13 (KJV)

Alpha and Omega- these are the first and last letters of the Greek Alphabet. The New Testament was written during a time when Greek was the common language so they understood that Alpha was the beginning of the alphabet and Omega was the last letter. Jesus is the one speaking in these verses from Revelation, saying that He is the Alpha and Omega.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3 (KJV)

Christ is the Author of all things. It all begins with Him. He created all things, and He will end all things at the final battle that will occur at His second coming. Because He is the Almighty as it says in Revelation 1:8, He has the power to begin new things in our lives and to end bad things. When one thing ends in your life, just remember Christ, who is the Beginning, has new beginnings for you. He has a brand new start of better things than before. He can even end good things in order for us to begin new, better things. As the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, He is with us from start to finish. If we get stuck somewhere in the middle of life’s circumstances, He comes along to move us along to the fulfillment of His plan in our lives.

It’s all in Jesus. Jesus has it all in His hands. If He uses world history and events to work for His plan, He will use the circumstances of our lives- even our bad choices- to work His plan out for us. What Jesus begins, He ends. He begins well and ends well. He has given us a beginning and a new beginning. And we know how things will end for us- good now and throughout eternity. Jesus rules over all. What He said, He will do. He rules from the beginning to the end. As we make Him Ruler over our lives, He becomes our Alpha and Omega- our Beginning and End.
