The Bible mentions God’s hand numerous times. God’s hand depict His divine ability as well as His reaching out and connecting with mankind. In the Bible, God’s hand speaks of blessing, favor, provision, protection, anointing, power, and ability. It shows us God working with people to do what He has called and appointed them to do. Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Isaiah 40:12 (New International Version, NIV)

This is a powerful verse that shows the awesomeness of God. Just think- God Himself measured the waters of the earth- the oceans, seas, lakes, and more- in the hollow, or the palm, of His hand. This shows how big He really is. He measured and made what we see by His hands, and He holds it all in His hands. We are in His hand, and Jesus said no man can pluck us out of the Father’s hand. As we stay in His hand, we are safe and secure.

This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him…. God’s hand shapes us, like the potter noted in Jeremiah. God as the Good Shepherd guides, protects, and provides by His hand. God’s hand brings down pride and lifts up the humble. In the Old Testament, God’s hand coming upon someone also showed God’s Spirit coming upon someone to do exploits. God’s hand helps His children.
