In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1, 14 (KJV)

In this passage, the word Word is logos in the original Greek, which means the expression of God, the personal word of God, personal manifestation of God. We see Christ as God in the flesh, the personal Word of and from God. Jesus, the living Word, became flesh so mankind could see God and how to live out the Word of God. When people saw Jesus, they saw God in the flesh- Emmanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23). The living Word, Jesus Christ, reveals God’s Word, heart, mind, will, and desires.

Jesus came to reveal God, the Word of the Lord, in human form so we could identify with God; know God; see, touch, and hear God. God does this now by His Word and His Spirit through the body of Christ on the earth- the church.

The church carries on the ministry of Christ. Now, we are the Word made flesh as we become living epistles (letters), read and known of all men (II Corinthians 3:2). As when Christ was on the earth and people saw and heard His words and saw His power in signs, miracles and wonders, so do people see the same in us. It is evidence of the God who lives in and through us.

We are Christ’s representatives to show them God- the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit. We do this in how we love others and share God’s Word. The way that people now see Jesus, the Head, is through His body, the church. As we demonstrate Christ by the way we carry ourselves and treat others, they can see the Living Word through us.

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. We are now the Word made flesh, showing forth God’s Word so others can encounter God and be saved, healed, delivered, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they, too, become the living Word of God and live out His Word on earth for all the world to see
