Relationship Above All

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matthew 22:36-37 (KJV)

The greatest thing is to love God with your whole being. It’s not what you do for God, the people you know, or who knows you. The most important thing is that we love God, having an ongoing, never-ending, ever-living, personal, close, intimate relationship with God.

Does your heart beat for God? Do you breathe in His presence like you breathe in oxygen? Do you feed on His written Word? Do you desire it more than you desire physical food? Do you spend time with God through prayer, worship, and seeking to hear Him and know Him? Do you run after God with all that you are? This is the greatest thing. Nothing or no one should come between you and God- not fame, fortune, the opinions of other people- nothing.

It’s okay to have things, but never lose the greatest thing in the process; your relationship with God. If no one ever knows you, know that God does. If He sees fit to make you known, that’s great. Give God the glory and proclaim His name to all. But if you remain in obscurity, do whatever He puts in front of you to do and you’ll be blessed.

He said, ‘Teacher, which of God's Laws is the most important rule for us to obey?’ Jesus replied to him, ‘You should love the Lord your God completely: Love him with all your mind. Love him with all that you are. Love him in all that you think. Matthew 22:36-37 (EasyEnglish Bible, EASY)

The greatest thing is simply to know and love God. The rest will take care of itself.
