Loving God's Presence- Part 1

Lord, I love the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells. Psalm 26:8 (KJV)

We are to love God’s house, to be around God and His people. God’s presence will be manifested as we glorify His name. The New Testament says we are now the habitation of God (Ephesians 2:21-22).

According to I Corinthians 3:16, we are God’s temple, where His glory dwells. Temple is the Greek word naos, which refers to the Holy of Holies, the dwelling place of God, and a beautifully adorned shrine. We are each the New Testament equivalent to the Most Holy Place in the Old Testament tabernacle and temple. Yet, as we come together to seek God through worship, the Word, fellowship, prayer, and ministry, we can experience the move of God’s Spirit, power, and presence as a group.

The habitation of God speaks of God’s presence. There we find God’s glory- the heavy, weightiness of God’s presence. God’s glorious presence manifested helps us to recognize that God is in our midst. We love God’s house because we can experience God and His glory there- the heavy, weighty presence of God full of His honor and majesty. He touches us so we are filled and refilled, refreshed, renewed, and experience everything that is good. God is good and when He is manifested, He brings tangible evidence of all we need. Most of all, we experience Him- and He is all we need.

God’s presence brings us close to Him, face-to-face and heart-to-heart. To love God is to love the habitation of His house where God’s glory dwells. The more we love God, the more we can experience God.
