The Lord Will Fight On Your Behalf
The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:14 (KJV)
When God’s enemies come against God’s people, the Lord takes it personally. When they touch His kids, they are doing it to Him. Then God steps in and fights for His own. When we don’t know how to defeat those who come against us or do us wrong, the Lord will fight for us. Just hold your peace and God will fight on your behalf.
One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the Lord your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. Joshua 23:10 (KJV)
God has promised to fight for you. We have promises in Scripture that God will do the fighting for us to defend and vindicate His own. He that touches us touches the apple of God’s eye, so it’s like they stick their finger in the eye of God when they mess with us. God takes this very personally.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19 (KJV)
Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. II Chronicles 20:17 (KJV)
In II Chronicles 20, God told them that they would not need to do the fighting. As the story goes, the people praised the Lord, then the enemy defeated themselves by turning on each other. The people of God took the spoils of war without lifting a finger to fight.
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. II Chronicles 20:15 (KJV)
The Lord told them not to fear the big armies coming against them. He assured them that the battle was His. No matter what attack is coming against you or how big the problem seems to be, the battle is the Lord’s. And since the battle is the Lord’s, you don’t need to fight. Just stand and watch God save you out of it. All that was lost or stolen will be given back to you- and more. It took three days for the Israelites to gather the spoils. God will pay us back so much more than what we’ve lost or more than the trouble we’ve been through. He won’t let us down. The Lord will fight on our behalf.
