You Are More
Philippians 4:13 is a familiar scripture to most Christians.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
When the Apostle Paul wrote this, he was referring to his ability to be content no matter what his situation was. Obviously, this verse is not saying that we can do anything and everything through Christ. For example, we cannot bench press 50,000 pounds. We also cannot hold our breath for twenty minutes. Of course, those things are silly and any sane person would not expect to be able to do them. The point is, this verse is saying that we can do anything that God requires of us because Jesus lives in us.
The Amplified Bible’s rendering of this scripture is wonderful.
I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] Philippians 4:13 (AMP)
Read that slowly and grasp what it is saying to you. Just think, you are ready for anything and equal to anything because the Lord infuses you with inner strength and confident peace. Those are powerful words. They are words that can change how you view yourself.
Because Jesus lives in you, you are more than any situation or circumstance you face. Because He is in you, you will not cave in, back down, or give up. Because Christ resides in you, there is no foe that can beat you. Your identity is in the One Who spoke the worlds into existence and the One who holds all things together by His Word. You are more than anything anyone has ever said you are. You are more than a stressed out single parent. You are more than a high school dropout. You are more than an overworked supervisor. You are more than any label or limiting definition that has been placed on you. You are more than your age, your gender, your race, your economic status, your social class, your employment, your financial standing, your education or your physical size. You, my friend, are a child of the Most High God. That makes you more than a conqueror, because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
Shake off the limits and dream big, because through Jesus Christ, you are more than anything that comes your way. And if you choose to believe what He says about you, you cannot fail. You can do all things that you need to do because He has made you greater than the challenge. In Christ, you are the ultimate winner!
