A Love You Can Count On

A Love You Can Count On

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)

The Apostle Paul gives us assurance that the love of God is immovable and eternal. There are a lot of translations and versions of this passage that are very good, but I think I like the simplicity and straight-forwardness of the Easy-To-Read Version the best.

Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure that nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us—nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (ERV)

Paul is telling us that there is no outside force that can remove us from God’s love. There is nothing that will stop Him from loving us. God is unchanging. His love never fades or grows cold. He loves us with the same passionate, all-consuming love that He did at the beginning of time. There is nothing in the spiritual world or the natural world that will cause Him to stop loving us. For Him to stop loving us would mean that God had stopped being God- for God is love. If love is who He is, then love is what He does.

You can choose to walk away from God- and that is the only way that you can lose out on His love- by choice. And to be honest, if you do that, He will continue to love you and try to woo you back to Him every minute of the rest of your natural life. Hell was not originally intended for man because God loves us. Hell was created for the punishment of the devil and the fallen angels. However, God also loves us enough to allow us to choose whether to follow Him, and we can choose eternal separation from God if that is what we want.

God loves you. He always has and He is not about to stop. The devil cannot take that away from you. the world cannot take that away from you. Troubles, trials, and persecution cannot take that away from you. People, angels, demons, or any other created being cannot stop God from loving you. Even the death of the believer has no power to stop the love God has for him or her. As a matter of fact, Jesus’ very own death on the cross showed the extent of His love for mankind. And when a believer dies, His love becomes even more real because when we leave this life, we are forever united with the King of Love.

So, hang in there, child of God. He loves you completely and fully, and He will continue to love you- forever. You can count on it.
