Take The Time
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
Ecclesiastes 3:1-9 tells us that there is a time for everything. I’ve noticed, and maybe you have too, that most people are too busy. They are too busy for God, for people, and even for themselves.
If that is the case with you, you must learn to slow down, to take the time to listen to people. Many of them just want someone to care enough to talk with them and listen to them. It is amazing the things we learn when we listen to others. They will tell you about themselves, their experiences, their families, and even about their hurts and pain. We need to care enough to be concerned and listen. Take time to be there for others and give them a little of our time.
The time we sow into others’ lives will come back to us increased. God will give us more time back. How? He will not add more hours to your day, but He will make your time more productive so that you can do more in less time. That’s what happens when we sow our time. We reap extra time to use for our interests.
I think most people enjoy the Andy Griffith Show, and I think the reason is that it portrays a slower time. The characters were not in a hurry, things were done at a more leisurely pace, and the people took time to know each other and help each other. They made time to help one another on their journey- whether it was a family member, neighbor, or even a prisoner in the jail.
My point is that we cannot become so busy that we have no time for people. Remember, someone took time for you, to share Jesus, and help you in your spiritual walk. Take the time to love, give, care, listen, and really communicate. It will enhance the lives of others and it will do a lot for your life too. After all, God always takes time for us…
