Let Go Of It
When we really trust God, we will take our hands off the situation and allow Him to work. Trust means confidence, hope, reliance, belief.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” “Be still” in the Hebrew can be translated “let go.” In other words, quit holding onto things and keeping God from being God in your life. You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Let go and let God.” This means we must allow God to be and do for us what only He can. We have to let Him.
Have you ever tried to help someone who didn’t want it? You cannot help them because they will not permit you to. The same is true in our relationship with God. He is not pushy. He will not force us to accept His help.
If we really believe God is God and we want Him to handle something, then we must give it to Him. Holding onto it or coming back to the situation to try to “help God” just shows our lack of faith. If we keep trying to involve ourselves in something we supposedly gave to God, we usually just make matters worse.
I remember back when I moved from Ohio to South Carolina and I needed a job. At first I was sweating it, because I was looking at the circumstances rather than at God. I had to make the effort to trust God. In three months I got a job, and seven months later, I owned my own home. I was worrying about a job, but God came through. I had to relax and trust God to get me what I needed, and He did.
We have to let go of the worry and the fear. God’s Word says He will meet all our needs. We are to do what we can (like applying for jobs), and let God do what we cannot. And in some situations, all we can do is pray and give it all to God because we cannot do anything ourselves. It may not seem like it, but it is actually easier to let God handle things than to try to take care of everything ourselves.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
How do we know when we are trusting and believing God? When we rest. When we are trusting Him for the outcome, we will give Him the situation and not take it back. We will let it go and not dwell on it. And when we do think about it, we will thank God for the good outcome He is going to bring to pass. Resting and not concerning ourselves with it is the proof that we are trusting God.
We can trust God for He is trustworthy. He is faithful and dependable. He will never let us down. He will always be there for us. The Lord will always make a way.
The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him [who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him] will [ever] be put to shame or be disappointed. Romans 10:11 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
Will you trust God today? Will you give Him your problems, your needs, your wants? Will you let go and let God? If you do, He will not let you down.
