The Mind and the Word
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. I Corinthians 2:16 (KJV)
As we renew our minds, we put on the mind of Christ. We begin to think like Christ, and we think according to the Word of God. As we study and meditate, or think on, the Word our minds become renewed. In other words, we think with a new mind- a spiritual mind. The Holy Spirit helps us to think like God, which is the same as thinking the Word. Therefore, when we get hurt, instead of dwelling on the hurt, we think on how much God loves us. In doing this, we allow God’s love to heal us.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
This verse tells us what to think on. As we think with the mind of Christ, our brain even becomes brighter and smarter. This is because our mind is aligned with the Word of God and His thoughts. As a result, we become whole. When we are whole we function from our spirit, through our soul (which includes the mind) and out through our body. This is the proper order and is how a whole person thinks and functions.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV)
As we think on the Word more and more, the more we will think with the mind of Christ. The Word of God and the mind of God are one and the same.
