How Do You Make People Feel?
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. Luke 6:31 (KJV)
As Christians, we should be in the business of making people feel good. When people think of you, do they get a smile on their face? Do you make them feel loved, valued and accepted? Are they glad to see you coming or do they try to avoid you? The way we treat others shows a lot about us.
As believers, it is up to us to set a good example in relating to people. God designed all of us for relationship, and for relationships to be healthy- even those with people we might meet only one time- compassion, care, and positive treatment must be involved.
The golden rule of doing unto others as we would have them do to us still applies today. We feel good when we are treated well, and so do others. This is a simple concept, and it is sad that we must even discuss it in a post like this, but it is so important. Love always thinks, says, and does the best for others. Let us do our best to leave people in a better state than when we found them. Even if the only thing we can do is to smile at them or compliment how they look, it could make a big difference in their day. Always seek to lift others up.
The seeds we sow today will create a harvest tomorrow. Let’s sow seeds of encouragement, compassion, and respect. I think we’ll be amazed at what we reap as a result! And most importantly, it gives people a glimpse into the heart of Jesus and demonstrates His love for them in ways they can understand. There’s no better reason than that for making others feel good, is there?
