Fight for It
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38 (KJV) emphasis mine
God will give us a word to tell us what He has for us and what He wants to do for us and through us. The enemy will come and try to steal the word, just like the birds that came to eat up Abraham’s sacrifice in Genesis 15. God gave him a word but he had to chase the fowls away to make sure he would obtain the promise. Every time God is about to fulfill His promise, the fight gets intense. We must rise up and fight the good fight of faith (I Timothy 6:12)
There was a time when I needed a job. I had to take God at His Word that tells me He will meet all my needs. God actually spoke to my heart and directed me where to apply, and I got the job. But, before that I had to fight off and chase away worry and fear to see God’s Word come to pass- just like Abraham did.
As we speak God’s Word and contend for that Word of promise, not allowing anything to steal it from us, we will have what He promised.
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12 (KJV)
Through faith and patience, we receive what He promised. God is always faithful and will do what He has said. He wants to see if we will take Him at His Word and hold onto it until it is fulfilled.
We contend for the Word by:
Receiving
Believing
Speaking God’s Word
Rebuking the devil
Praising God for the answer
Faith praises God before the manifestation. Thankfulness praises God after the manifestation.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23 (KJV)
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. I Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11 (KJV)
Through faith we receive strength to conceive the seed of the Word and to deliver, even when it looks too late. With God, it is never too late. We judge God as faithful who promised. Hold onto what you desire; your dream. By holding onto the Word and fighting the good fight of faith to contend for it, you will surely see it come to pass.
