A Word To The Wise: Don't Fight Against God
“So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!” Acts 5:38-39 (New Living Translation, NLT)
Whatever is of God will last. Although many have fought against God and have even tried to get rid of God by “evicting” Him from their lives, schools, governments, businesses, etc., God is not going anywhere.
Those who fight against God lose every time- from Pharaoh to Hitler, from kings to presidents, from the wealthy to the impoverished. It doesn’t matter who you are, you cannot fight against God and win. And when we fight against the people of God, we are fighting against God. God takes it personally because, as a loving Father, He steps in to fight for His kids. Even as Christians, we need to keep our mouths and hands off God’s people. When we criticize or gossip about a brother or sister in Christ, we are touching God’s anointed.
“Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” I Chronicles 16:22 (Amplified Bible, AMP)
When someone is trying to overthrow God’s work, they are fighting against God, and He’s the undefeated Champion. People will come against and fight the works of God, but through the centuries, His work has continued to grow and advance. Saul of Tarsus fought against God, and God had to set him straight. But Saul repented, became Paul, and was used mightily by God. The good news is that those who will repent can be used greatly by the Lord.
Wise men who fight choose to fight with God and not against Him. The choice is up to us.
