Be God-Minded, Not Need-Minded
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32 (KJV)
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:25-33 (New Living Translation, NLT)
Jesus tells us here not to have any worries about our daily needs. Why? Because we have a heavenly Father who knows our needs. Since God takes care of His creation, how much more will He take care of us, His new creation!
Birds don’t worry. God has never even once failed to provide food for the birds. How much more willing is He to provide for us His own children? As we seek first the kingdom of God; the way He does things, the King’s domain, all we need is given to us. As we seek and find the King, everything we need is found in His kingdom.
As we seek a kingdom that is spiritual (righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost), every single thing we need or want, whether spritual, emotional, mental, or physical, is added to us. We do not need to worry about how our needs will be met. There’s no fear here! We’re too blessed to be stressed!
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
Peace in this verse is the Hebrew word shalom, which means nothing missing, nothing broken; wholeness. As we seek God, we find Him and we enter His rest. When we do, we receive His best.
