Try Again

And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. John 21:6 (KJV)

The backdrop for this verse is that the Lord has been resurrected and has appeared to the disciples. For some reason, after this, Peter and others decide to go fishing- maybe in an attempt to return to their former occupation. They fished and caught nothing. Jesus appears on shore and asks if they have caught anything. They reply that they did not. And Jesus tells them to cast the net on the right side. When they do, they catch the fish that Jesus said they would find.

Have you tried something and failed? If so, get with God and get a word from Him to know what to do. God isn’t holding out on you- He wants to guide and instruct you into success. Follow Jesus’ instructions, and like the disciples, you will find that God will meet your needs. When we act on the spoken word from Jesus, failure will turn into success, taking us from no results to good returns.

There is a right and a wrong way to do things. When we do things God’s way, we get results. The disciples got a word from Jesus and experienced His wonderworking power. We will too- where we not only get our needs met, but we receive a new revelation of who Jesus is. Our need serves to lead us to know Jesus, the Need Meeter. And when we know Jesus, everything else follows.
