The Name of Jesus: Salvation in That Name

Today I want to begin a mini-series on the name of Jesus. A great place to start is the concept of salvation through Jesus’ name.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12 (KJV)

This says that salvation is available to us only through the name of Jesus. But let’s back up a couple verses.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. Acts 4:10 (KJV)

This man was healed and made whole by the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus provides salvation for the entire person- spirit soul and body. Jesus, or Yeshua in Hebrew, means Savior. Christ, which comes from the Greek word Christos, means the Anointed One. Jesus Christ is the Savior and Anointed One. There is no other name that can save us. No religion, cult, or man can do what Jesus has done for us. As we put our faith in Jesus Christ and in His name, we are saved.

The name of Jesus represents who Jesus is and what He does, which is save. The word salvation means saved, delivered and made whole. Through salvation, we are made a new creation- one that never existed before. When God makes you right with Him, you are definitely right.

The name of Jesus has power to raise us up just as God raised Jesus from the dead. God can raise our lives up from the dead. No religion or deity can do this- not buddha, allah, or anyone. (Please note these names were not capitalized on purpose because, in my opinion, in the same way that the name of satan doesn’t deserve the honor of being capitalized, the names of fake gods inspired by him do not deserve that honor either). Only the name of Jesus has the power of resurrection salvation attached to it. Jesus’ resurrection is proof that Jesus is who He said He is: the Savior of the world.

As we are saved and speak His name, the authority of Jesus resides in His name. Use of His name by believers is the same as if Jesus was on the earth speaking. It has the same power and backing. When we speak that Name, demons tremble, and sin, sickness, fear, death, lack, and satan must bow. As we speak the name of Jesus in faith, we will see victory every time.

Everything must submit to the name of Jesus. As we speak the name of Jesus, problems must bow and surrender. When you speak the name of Jesus, every need is met- spirit, soul, and body. That’s salvation in His name.
