The Desire Cycle
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12 (KJV)
When difficulties and obstacles arise in life, desire will give you the strength needed to keep moving forward in the right direction. God gives us godly desires to keep us on course. They keep us stretching forward, reaching towards a goal or destination. Wanting to see the desire fulfilled prevents us from throwing in the towel.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4 (KJV)
As we choose to delight ourselves in God, God plants desires in our hearts, molding our hearts to fit His plans for our lives. As we work with Him, He sets out to fulfill those desires for us.
Desires from God will keep us going when we want to quit. We will win if we simply do not give up. Desire is like wood is to a fire; it will keep us burning with passion, so the fire is stronger and more intense than any pain or challenge. It will prompt us to push on with the promises of God.
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul. Proverbs 13:19a (KJV)
As the desire comes to pass, it is a tree of life to us, growing up in us and causing us to dream and desire even more that God has for us. It’s a wonderful cycle. It takes us from one level of glory to the next as our desires for God and the things of God get stronger and stronger with each desire we see fulfilled.
The desire of the righteous shall be granted. Proverbs 10:24b (KJV)
It doesn’t get much plainer than that. God will indeed give us what we desire- there’s no doubt about it. So, keep pressing on in the things of God with passion and zeal, and you will see the desire come to pass.
