Squeaky Clean

Romans 12:2 (KJV) says:

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The word renewing refers to a renovation, or to refresh and make new.  After time spent in the world at work or school, we can inadvertently accumulate some of the dirt and filth that is a part of the world system.  Sometimes, at the end of the day, you just feel kind of emotionally dirty and mentally weighed down by the uncleanness you've been around.  Therefore, a refreshing of our minds is welcome and needed.  We definitely want to renovate and renew our minds, but how? 

Titus 3:5 (Modern English Version MEV) says:

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of rebirth and the renewal of the Holy Spirit,

We were cleansed or washed at the rebirth, and we are renewed by the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:26 (KJV) says:

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 

Or, in the New Life Version (NLV):

Christ did this so He could set the church apart for Himself. He made it clean by the washing of water with the Word.

The word washing in Ephesians 5:26 and Titus 3:5 is from the Greek word louo, which speaks of a bath; a bathing of the entire person- or an immersion. 

When we need to refresh our souls after a day in the world, we can be immersed in the cleansing flow of God by opening the Word and asking the Holy Spirit to cleanse and purify us with the water of the Word.  The Word has the supernatural ability to cleanse us head to toe from the unclean influences of the sinful world.  When we daily become submerged in His Word, we are truly cleansed and made new day by day as the Holy Spirit pours His cleansing power over us.

So, my friend, take a bath.  Come away for a nice soak in God's renewing Word.  It's better than a bubble bath any day!
