You Can Get Past It
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Isaiah 61:1 (KJV) emphasis mine
Regardless of what we experience, God has answers to our problems and healing for our wounds. He specializes in fixing broken people and lives. No matter what has been lost, God can fix it and fill the void, whether it was a death, divorce, loss of a job, an ended friendship, rejection, abuse, betrayal, or even broken dreams.
In order to cooperate with God’s healing power, there some things we can do.
Admit it. It happened. You hurt. You’ve been wronged. As long as we deny the pain, we can’t heal or get past it. We have to face it in order to be free from it.
Desire and decide to change. Every success starts with a desire, including a desire to be healed. Make a decision to start again, to try again. If you don’t have the desire to move forward toward wholeness, ask God to put the desire in you (Mark 11:24).
Forgive. Forgive those who have hurt you (Ephesians 4:32). Forgive the offending party. Let it go and give it over to God’s justice. And if you were in the wrong in any way, ask God to forgive you.
Let God make it up to you. Regardless of how you were wronged, whether it was your innocence being stolen, you being rejected, betrayed, overlooked, neglected or attacked, People cannot pay us back for the wrongs we have suffered. God is our Vindicator. He will make wrong things right. It may take some time, but God is faithful and just and He will see that you are paid back.
Receive. Receive love from the Lord (Jeremiah 31:3). He loves you with an everlasting love. Let His love heal your hurts. His love is the glue that mends our lives (Romans 8:31, 37-39). Let Him love you back to wholeness. You will be better than before, as if it never happened. Receive the peace of God and the joy of the Lord. You will smile, laugh, live and love again. Receive forgveness from past wrongs you have inflicted on others. And receive healing of your wonded heart. Whether your pain has been spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, relational, or due to disappointments and broken dreams, God can and will restore you. He is the Healer (Exodus 15:26).
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. Joel 2:25-27 (KJV)
