One Thing Is Needful

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:42 (KJV)

Have you ever gone through something and it shows you how much you need God? The hard times show us We can’t make it without God because we’re just not strong enough or wise enough on our own. Yet even in the good times we need Him. We need God all day, every day.

This world is a dry and thirsty land and nothing really satisfies us or fills the void like God. I know that I personally need an encounter with God daily- revelation of Him from His Word and from time spent with Him. And when I experience it, it shows me even more how desperately I need God. It’s like sitting in the dark and then when you turn on a light, you realize how dark it was. God will dawn on our hearts and shine His light and show us how much we need Him.

We will experience life’s good days and bad days- to shake us, wake us, and make us come to the point where we know we need God all the time. We must come to a decision: will we seek God until He is found and we’re satisified just with God- or- will we decide God is not what we want?

The interesting thing is that the more we seek God, the more we find God (meaning He reveals and manifests Himself to us). And once you’ve tasted God and found out how good He is, nothing else compares or comes close to the passion of your heart being fulfilled by Him. The more we drink of Jesus and the more we feed on God’s Word, the more satisfied we are and the more of it we want. It’s a continuous cycle. We go from hungry to filled to hungry to filled again. God keeps us needing and wanting more and more of Him until everything that is not of Him falls away and all we want is God. And when you need God, you will find that God is all you need.

One thing is needful: to find and know God- sitting at His feet, hearing His Word, and beholding His face.
