The Lover of My Soul- Part 1: Encountering Jesus

My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. Song of Solomon 2:10 (KJV)

God is calling us closer to Him; to dwell and abide with God in His presence, seeing Him face to face. This is where we’re so close to Jesus that we can feel one another’s heartbeats. As His loved one, we know His voice and hear it clearly. In His intimate presence is where we are made to be, walking side-by-side with God.

We hear Jesus call us to come away with Him so we can be alone together in the secret place, the place where there is only room for God and His beloved. These times are holy moments, and the secret place where we meet with God is a naos place. Naos in the Greek is the word for Holy of Holies. The Holy of Holies was the innermost part of the tabernacle, and later the temple, where the presence of God dwelt. Now, instead of temples made with hands, God dwells in our hearts. When we are with the Lord in the secret place, it is just God and us. It is where we behold the Lord of Glory; the Glorious One.

As we come closer to God, He comes closer to us and His glory touches us. As we encounter His glory, we’re changed from glory to glory, going higher and deeper into His glorious presence. In this innermost place, we find all we need. As we experience the divine presence of the Lord, we bow down and worship Jesus, declaring, “My Lord, my God, and my Lover.” What a marvelous thing to be in close, intimate fellowship with God. He’s calling to you, so draw near to Him today.
