Follow The Leader
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14 (KJV)
God wants to lead us, but we must allow Him. And when He does, we need to follow His lead. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us.
Romans 8:14 tells us that sons of God follow His leading. The word sons in the Hebrew language means mature sons. Babies don’t follow God’s lead. They want their own way so they can do their own thing. They are still operating in the carnal, flesh nature. Believe it or not, there are believers who have been saved for years and years who are still spiritual babies, wanting their own way.
The word led speaks of letting God direct us by the promptings or impulses in our hearts, a holy nudge. Holy Spirit will lead, or nudge, us in the direction we need to go, but we must learn to discern the nudge. We don’t want to follow the promptings of the enemy or of our flesh. To pursue the things of God, we follow peace. As we spend time with God in His Word and presence, we become more sensitive to His voice and leading. We learn to recognize His direction, His nudges, in our hearts. We sense His peace.
Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit, and we can be too. The Holy Spirit will lead us step by step to walk in the will of God for our lives. Proceed with peace, and know God is taking you places.
The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:14 (The Passion Translation, TPT)
