Right in God's Sight

…Every man did that which was right in his own eyes. Judges 21:25 (KJV)

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord… Judges 3:12 (KJV)

Both scriptures show us people choosing to do their own thing. In both cases, there were serious repercussions. In the first example, the king of Moab, along with the Ammonites and Amalekites, attacked Israel. In the second example, they experienced a drought.

When we reject God and His Word, anything goes. Just because we can do something does not make it the right thing to do. People like to make excuses for sinful lifestyles, even passing laws that contradict God’s laws. But, just because the world makes something legal does not mean it is right. When mankind does what he thinks is right, independent of the Word, he does evil in the sight of the Lord.

To do right in God’s sight, we must call sin what it is, and we must identify what is right. It’s simple. Whatever violates God’s Word is sin. What God’s Word endorses is right. Following God’s Word will put us in the right and lead us to live right.

Let our testimony and legacy be that we did what was right in the sight of God by following His Word.
