Training Us For War- Part 2
Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt. Exodus 13:17-18 (NKJV)
When God delivers us from bondage of some kind, He protects us from wrong people that we are not ready to deal with yet. That is why He tries to separate us from wrong influences and people that would try to drag us back into bondage. He pulls us away because we are not yet ready to fight that battle and we would be defeated. As we learn God’s Word and gain experience with God, we learn that we can fight and win with the Lord on our side.
God will lead us in a time of loneliness, where it is just Him and us. He does this to make sure we come under His divine rank in His army. It places us where we become single-minded and focused on God, where we don’t take our eyes off the Lord, even in intense warfare. God’s plan is for us to win every time.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV)
All we go through equips, teaches, and trains us to be warriors in Christ. Therefore, when we are ready, we go forward, taking and keeping ground. We’re ready to overcome any enemy. We have a fight in our spirits, and we won’t back down, but we will rise up and fight in the spirit. We go on the advance, on the offense, with nothing defeating us. We fight until we win.
