The Law of the Spirit of Life- Part 2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2 (KJV)
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Romans 8:11 (KJV)
Yesterday, we discussed the law of the Spirit of life and that it “lifed” Jesus and raised Him from the dead. That same Spirit lives in us. By the Spirit and Word of God, we can live victoriously over the law of sin and death.
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. II Peter 1:3-4 (KJV)
This tells us how we can participate in the law of the Spirit of life. Of course, as Romans 8:2 attests, those that are in Christ and remain in Him are “lifed.” We remain, or abide, in Christ by staying in God’s Word- reading, studying, and speaking it. In so doing, we begin to partake of the benefits of the law of the Spirit of life- God’s power, promises, and divine nature and life.
The more we are in the Word and the more we encounter God’s presence through prayer and worship, the more we are filled with the Spirit of life. And we’re also filled with the Word of life, which is Jesus. This creates growth in us, and we produce the fruit of the Spirit.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:5-8 (KJV)
Abiding in the vine, which is Christ Jesus, we produce the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23, John 15:1-7) Doing this allows us to tap into and be filled with the very life of God- to overflowing. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus will cause us to grow and develop to be more Christ-like. Praying in the Spirit releases the law of the Spirit of life and causes us to experience all its benefits.
The life of God in us, on us, and flowing out through us will produce fruit, fullness, and all we need. As we know God more and more by His Word and Spirit, we gain knowledge, revelation, and experience, and we partake of more and more of God’s power and promises. We will partake of all that God has given us.
No matter what we go through, partaking in all God is and has given us will always cause us to triumph in Christ (II Corinthians 2:14). Release the law of the Spirit of life to go to work for you. Your life will take on new meaning as the God kind of life becomes yours. You will walk in the way God is, lives, and does things, and you’ll be a partker of the divine nature of God.
