Turn Your Life Around

This is a truth that bears repeating over and over. To change your life, you have to change your words.

The mouths of fools are their ruin; they trap themselves with their lips. Proverbs 18:7 (New Living Translation, NLT)

That’s a hard-hitting verse. None of us likes to think of ourselves as fools, but if we don’t exercise caution about the words we speak, that’s exactly what we become. Just like God in Hebrews 11:3, our worlds are formed by the words of our mouths. If we don’t like the situation we currently find ourselves in, then it’s time to put a guard over our mouths.

We really do have the power to make our lives better or worse. Speaking defeat brings defeat. It’s basic sowing and reaping. Our words are seeds and the circumstances they bring into our lives are the harvests off of those seeds. Why speak the curse when you can have the blessing?

I believe the real issue for most of us is the fact that our minds have been so programmed to think the worst and believe the worst. We have to rewire how we think. The way we do that is by renewing our minds to the Word of God.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

We’ve watched so much network news, read so many negative reports, and heard so many people speaking doom and gloom, that our minds have been cnformed to the world. We have to transform how we think. Only the Word of God has the supernatural power to do that.

So, put down USA Today, turn off CNN, switch off talk radio, and open up the Word of God. It has the power in it to turn your mind around, which means your words will be turned around. And then your life will be turned around!
