Deposits and Withdrawals
Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. Philippians 4:17 (KJV)
Did you know that each of us can make deposits and withdrawals from our heavenly account? When we get saved, we receive a heavenly bank account that we can access.
Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. ut I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:15-19 (KJV)
Paul was talking to his partners in Philippi. He tells us they were involved in giving to his ministry. He mentions fruit credited to their account for it. Paul also mentioned in Philippians 3:20 that their citzenship was in heaven. Ephesians 2:6 tells us we’re seated in heavenly places in Christ. This establishes that our spiritual position in Christ makes things in heaven available to us. Paul specifically mentions an account that we have- so there is a record of our giving in heaven.
Paul told the Philippians that their giving was a sweet smelling sacrifice that was pleasing to God. The Lord loves a cheerful giver. And Paul follows up with the fact that as we give, God will meet every single one of our needs- spiritually, soulishly, physically. This covers any and all needs we may have.
So we see that as we give, we make a deposit into our heavenly bank account. As we believe and receive God’s Word, we can make a withdrawal to get what we need. Ths, God is supplying all our need. How? According to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus!
You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever. So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:34-36 (New Living Translation, NLT)
