Fire of God
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Matthew 3:11-12 (KJV)
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)
We need to seek the true desire of God. As we seek God, He will burn His true desire in our hearts. As we linger in His presence, God will fill us with a burning passion and love for Him and for people. As we stay in His presence, His fire will fall on us and burn in us so we’re are so on fire for God and others it will compel us to do something about it.
God’s fire will light the way for our path. As we follow the fire of God, even in the dark places, people will see the fire of God in us and be drawn to its warmth. They will come near to be warmed in their hardened hearts, for their blind eyes to be enlightened, and to catch on fire with the same fire for God we have. They will be consumed with holy fire that purifies and enlightens. The fire will burn out impurities and keep the enemy at bay. However, if they get close and do not repent- they will be totally destroyed by the flames. To one person, God’s fire saves. To another, God’s fire consumes and devours.
The more time we spend in God’s presence, the more we will burn with God’s love so we can love God and love people and make this world a brighter place.
