Where We Belong
My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. Song of Songs 2:10 (KJV)
We need to regularly come away to be with the Lord. Yes, we need to hear the Word, fellowship with others, witness, and do the works of Christ, but when we get away and get quiet before the Lord, something special happens.
When we come into His presence, He can speak to our hearts, touch our souls, and give life to our bodies. Deeper still, God can reveal Himself to us in ways that nothing else can. He can take His Word and impress it in our hearts, making it more real to us than ever before- we can hear and know God and His Word in a more meaningful way.
When we encounter the Living God, we are changed. We see God and know Him in new ways- we see new aspects of His character and nature. And when we cry out to God for more of Him, He comes to us in ways we cannot explain or conjure up. He looks deep in us, knowing our hearts, and drawing us closer to Him so he can love us, heal us, speak to us, and satisfy us with Himself. His presence is a safe place where we can be open and transparent before Him- He knows all about us any way. And He can touch the deep places to heal buried pain, to reveal inner motives, to bring growth and maturity.
When we come away with God, we find He is all we want or need. He is more than enough. Our hearts overflow with thanksgiving, praise, and worship when we are near Him. And we begin to give our spirit, soul, and body to the One who gave His all for us. And He continues to give all of Himself to us. His presence is where we find our place, our home, where we belong.
