I Am My Beloved's And He Is Mine
As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Song of Solomon 2:3-4 (KJV)
One of the ways we can interpret Song of Solomon is to view it as Christ and His bride, the church. Sitting under His shadow speaks of us being under the care of Jesus, His provision, and presence. It points to intimate love and relationship with Jesus. With great delight we spend time in God’s presence and live under His watchful care. We delight ourselves in the Lord and He will be our desire.
We need to sit at Jesus’ feet, in His presence, hearing His voice and listening to His Word. This will bring rejoicing ot our hearts. The fruit He gives us to eat will be sweet to our taste. We can feed on the fruit of the Holy Spirit and we can grow in God.
God brings us into the house, the house of God, and ultimately to His heavenly home. He gives us a foretaste of good things to come. As we spend time in God’s house, feasting in His presence, feeding on His promises, and filled with His precious Holy Spirit, we will find God’s banner over us is love. God’s intent towards us is love. We are God’s and He is ours.
My beloved is mine, and I am his…. Song of Solomon 2:16 (KJV)
As we spend time with God, in His Word and presence, we will find great joy with Him. It will be our way of life, living life in closeness with God, our divine Love, as He loves us. As we set our affection on the Lord and fall deeper and deeper in love with Him, He will be our one quest. As we pursue Him, we will find that all along God is pursuing us- until we are made His very own.
