Emotional Wholeness
Emotion means to move away. Emotions are a physiological response, a feeling. Emotions will move us in a direction. Good emotions move us in a good direction while bad emotions move us in a bad direction.
Every single person goes through things that affect their emotions. We have emotions but we cannot be emotional all the time to the point where we’re always getting upset or riding an emotional rollercoaster. If you frequently lose your temper, are depressed, or cry a lot, these are indicators of damged emotions. They are usually brought on by pain, rejection, abandonment, betrayal, abuse, a loss... a trauma of some sort.
We must go to the Lord and allow Him to do His deep work in us. Most of the time, emotional healing takes time, but there are instances where God can do a quick work. It can be a messy process because emotions are messy things. We have to confront the thing that has hurt us in order to heal. The deeper the wound, the messier it can be- but it is worth it. The hurt can be deep, but God’s healing power can go deeper.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Luke 4:18 (KJV)
Jesus came to heal the broken-hearted. Jesus pours in the oil and the wine of His Spirit and He heals through His Word.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:3-5 (KJV)
Jesus was wounded for us to heal all the wounds we’ve experienced. No wounds we have are as deep as the wounds Jesus bore in His spirit, soul, and body. His wounds heal all our wounds. Jesus was rejected. He was a man of sorrows, or pains in the Hebrew. He was acquainted with grief, or sickness in the Hebrew. He bore our sickness and disease. He bore our sorrows, which in the Hebrew is both physical and mental pain. He was pierced, tormented, bruised, and crushed. The chastisement, or the punishment, for our peace was upon Him. With His stripes, wounds, His bruises, we are healed. We are healed in every part of our being- spirit, soul, and body. It is wholeness for the whole man.
He provided spiritual wholeness for us- causing us to be born again. He provided healing of the soul, with restoration of our minds, our emotions, and our wills. And He provided physical healing for our bodies. Christ’s complete sacrifice is complete payment for all we would ever need, including healing of the emotions. He has made us spiritually new, given us new emotional health, and made us physically well. With Him we have peace- nothing missing, nothing broken.
