What We All Need
God is love. I John 4:8 (KJV)
God made each of us as we are, with a unique make-up, personality, gifts, desires, and abilities. God is love, and He made us to love and be loved.
When we think we aren’t loved by others, we feel less than who God made us to be- and then we may even choose to BE less than who God made us to be. We can become dysfunctional, trying to live in a demanding world. When we can’t perform the way the world expects, this too can make us feel we are less. When people think they are unloved, they feel out of place- like they don’t belong. They devalue themselves. The feeling of being unloved creates a huge deficit and longing within them. It makes it hard to function. God made us to love and be loved. The greatest thing is God, and He is love, therefore when we think we aren’t loved, we feel broken and not whole.
God’s love can make us whole again, putting the pieces back together. I remember being alone on one of my birthdays. I was depressed and dejected. Then, my grandparents made a special birthday meal and cake, and that little “party” made me feel loved and valued. This is what everyone needs.
God so loved us that He sent Jesus to die for us. As we come to God, He will heal us and love us back to wholeness and life. He will show us we are loved. We do matter because we matter to God. God, who is Love, loves us. When we are loved by Him, we find our place- and that place is with God. When we understand and believe that God loves us, we can go through anything. He is on our side and by our side, loving us all the way.
God’s love makes us complete, so we are a whole person that is able to live life the way God planned. He planned a good and happy life for us filled with God and His love. No matter where we are, we can love God, love ourselves, and love others because we’ve received God’s love for us.
If you feel your life doesn’t have much meaning, or you are not happy, I suggest that you just be still and let God love you. Get quiet before the Lord and allow the voice of the Lord to come up from your spirit. He’ll tell you about His love for you. He’ll touch you like no one else can. We all need love, and God is the source of it. Love makes us whole and makes the world a better place.
Once we are whole through the love of God,we can make a difference by sharing that love. We can create change in someone else’s life by taking what we’ve gotten from God and giving it to them.
