Act Like God Loves You
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39 (KJV)
God loves us no matter what. Whether we’re having a good day or not, whether things are going our way or not, whether we are full of joy or not, whether we have peace or not, regardless of what we think, speak, believe or do- God loves us. And thinking that He doesn’t just makes things worse. We have to know that Jesus loves us and that things will get better, no matter what’s going on or how people are treating us. Once we realize this and speak and act accordingly, we will discard our miserable attitudes.
But God still loved us with such great love. He is so rich in compassion and mercy. Ephesians 2:4 (The Passion Translation, TPT)
We must act like God loves us- because He does- even if we don’t feel like it. Feelings are fickle and will fake us out, so we cannot rely on them to tell us what God thinks of us. As we believe the love of God, our perspectives and attitudes will change. We will begin to respond life the way God intended, walking in love, joy, peace, faith, etc. We will have a positive outlook instead of always dreading things.
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. I John 3:1-2 (New Living Translation, NLT)
Because God does love us, we can trust Him that things will turn out the way He planned for us: living in blessing, victory, wisdom, the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and in sweet fellowship with the Lord.
The next time you’re having a rough day, stop and say, “Because God loves me, I’m okay and I will make it through the day with peace and joy all the way.”
