Birthday Verses
I was born on 4-29 and I thought it would be fun to look up some 4:29 New Testament Scriptures. Here is what God showed me.
But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. Mark 4:29 (KJV)
This speaks of reaping a harvest, specifically a harvest of souls. It has been a passion of mine for years to tell others of Jesus, to support the preaching of the Gospel, and to reach people and reap the harvest.
And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. Luke 4:29 (KJV)
They wanted to throw Jesus off a cliff to kill Him for for declaring the Word of God regarding who He was. Anyone who declares who Jesus is has been persecuted and mistreated, myself included. As they tried to kill Jesus, they were not able to do so, and Jesus walked right through the crowd. Supernaturally, as we speak the truth, we are protected from harm as well.
Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? John 4:29 (KJV)
This woman encountered Jesus Christ at the well. I have encountered Him too. He has told me who I am and what I have done, but never to condemn me. He did so that I might know Him and have a relationship with Him. I have found that He alone can satisfy my thirst and satisfy all of me. As He speaks to me and meets my needs, my desire is to tell others about Him. It is my desire for others to see Jesus, experience Him, and receive Jesus for themselves.
And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, Acts 4:29 (KJV)
As they prayed regarding being persecuted for preaching the Gospel, they prayed for boldness to preach the Word. We must ask God for boldness to keep speaking God’s Word. In verse 30, they saw God work as a result of it, and so will we. We speak God’s word to change things.
But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Galatians 4:29 (KJV)
This refers to two sons: Ishmael, or the flesh, and Isaac, or the spirit. The flesh persecutes the spirit. This is warfare. We must dominate our flesh to be spiritual and possess the promises of God. As we use the Word to defeat those who come against us, we obtain God’s promises, receiving what we believed for.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29 (KJV)
As we speak only God’s Word, we can build others up. We can edify them rather than tear them down. When we minister to others and share God’s Word with others, we are being constructive, building both people and the Kingdom. As we learn to minister to people as Jesus did, they will receive God’s grace to be saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, blessed, healed, know God, and have their needs met.
I found it interesting how each of these verses spoke to me and I could identify strongly with each of them. They represented various ways God has worked with me and worked in my life. As we proclaim God’s Word, we will be persecuted, but by God’s Word, we overcome to do what God has called us to do.
Just for fun, get in God’s Word and look up some of your own “birthday verses.” I’m sure God will speak to you in a special way.
