Address Stress- Part 2
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 (KJV)
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22 (KJV)
Stress is a major problem; I’d say it’s even a killer. It may be the number one cause for most sickness and disease. Disease is brought on by dis-ease: being upset a lot, not calm, but irritated and disturbed with no peace.
When we stress about our health, it causes more health problems. When we stress over relationships, finances, work, and so on, it creates more stress and does not help us in any of the areas we are worried about. We must gain control over our thinking to overcome stress and keep it from dominating us. We must always be aware of what we’re thinking of. Thoughts unchecked stir up emotions which will cause us to speak wrong words. This leads to more bad thoughts and emotions and more stress. And the words we speak have creative power, so we can speak problems into our lives if we aren’t keeping a watch over our thoughts and words.
We must think on Gods’ Word. We learn to feel good about ourselves by right thinking and by right speaking. We attain this by putting God’s Word in us so we are ruled by God’s Word and Spirit. When God’s Word is in us, we think, speak and act on the Word, which overcomes stress. Put pressure on what is pressuring you by meditating on and speaking God’s Word. Don’t take hit after hit from stress. Defeat it with the Word of God. Renew your thoughts with the Word. Put the Word in your thoughts, words, heart, and actions to walk over stress and to walk into victory.
