Live to Bless the Lord
Behold, bless the Lord, All you servants of the Lord, Who by night stand in the house of the Lord! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, And bless the Lord. The Lord who made heaven and earth Bless you from Zion! Psalm 134:1-3 (NKJV)
Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord; Praise Him, O you servants of the Lord! You who stand in the house of the Lord, In the courts of the house of our God, Psalm 135:1-2 (NKJV)
These Psalms speak of those servants who are employed in the house of the Lord to bless and sing to the Lord.
These are the singers, heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites, who lodged in the chambers, and were free from other duties; for they were employed in that work day and night. I Chronicles 9:33 (NKJV)
This tells about the singers who were to be employed to praise God day and night.
As New Testament believers, we are to praise God day and night. We don’t just stand in His house; we ARE God’s house, where He dwells. We are priests who are to offer thanksgiving, giving Him praise continually. We are be full-time worshipers as a holy lifestyle unto the Lord. Psalm 134 even speaks of all-night worship. As New Testament believers with a better covenant based on Jesus’ sacrifice and with better promises, we should exceed what they did in the Old Testament.
As we worship God day and night in how we live, love and serve, as well as how we sing and bless His Name, He will respond to us with blessing. Our true occupation is to be so preoccupied with God that continual praise and worship flows from our hearts, mouths, and lives.
It truly is a blessing to live to bless the Lord
