When The Righteous Rule

When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan. Proverbs 29:2 (New Living Translation, NLT)

There are some Christians who believe that God is not interested in government. They buy into the lie about separation of church and state, which, by the way, is not even in the Constitution. However, God is very interested in government.

Throughout the Bible, we see that God has placed people in governmental offices to protect and help His people. Consider Joseph, Deborah, the Prophet Samuel, King David, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo, Nehemiah, and many more. God is very interested in government and having His will carried out in the earth to bless humanity.

However, the devil is interested in government as well. The devil knows that governments rule over the affairs of people, and he has infiltrated government at all levels to try to bring his desires to pass in the earth. But, God has thwarted his attempts over and over- by placing his own people in authority. And He’s doing so right now.

Always remember that mankind has a part to play in establishing the Kingdom of God on the earth. Godly people must not be afraid to rise up and take places of leadership in government. And churches must not fear government. Instead, pastors should speak the truth and use the pulpit to shape the world around them as God desires- including government. During the Revolutionary War, pastors encouraged their congregations to fight against tyranny and even took up arms themselves. They came to be known as the Black Robe Regiment. We need some men and women of God who are not afraid to fight today.

God is the God of order and the rule of law. He is very interested in government- and we should be bold to take the places He wants us to take in regard to politics and govenrment.
