Putting the Enemy Where He Belongs- Part 1
Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. Joshua 1:3 (KJV)
Today I want to show you where all enemies belong- the enemies called lack, sickness, fraud, theft, and the like. We are to go and take back what the enemy has stolen by steps of action. We are not to be passive, but active. We are to go on the offensive against the enemy. And we all know who the real enemy is: the devil and his demons.
And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them. And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight. And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening. Joshua 10:24-26 (KJV)
The enemies of Joshua and the children of Israel tried to run and hide, but Joshua and his men pursued the five enemy kings. Before they slew them, he told his men to put their feet on their necks. This gives us a prophetic picture of what Christ expects from His church. He expects us to pursue them, apprehend them, and put them under our feet. Joshua said that this will the Lord do to all our enemies.
I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed. I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet. For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me…. He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Psalm 18:37-40, 48 (KJV)
God lifts us up above our enemies to bring them down, tread on them, and do away with them.Whether it be sickness, poverty, fear, worry; no matter the enemy of God, we are to take authority over it in Jesus’ Name and by His Word. David said that God had given him the necks of his enemies, the same as God did for Joshua. And Christ has done the same for His church. We are to tread upon the enemy.
Tomorrow, we’ll continue discussing putting our enemies where they belong- under our feet.
