Rebuilding the Foundations

Rebuilding the Foundations

1 In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Psalm 11:1-7 (KJV)

The very foundations upon which our nation and our faith are built are under attack. Let’s take a look at Psalm 11 for answers and apply it to today’s circumstances.

Verses 1-3 tell us that those who trust in God don’t compromise or run when Biblical values and foundations are under attack. Instead, we are to fight back. Verse three specifically asks what are we to do when our foundations are destroyed. The answer is to restore and rebuild the foundation. How? By standing up for and upon biblical values. Stand against the things that offend God.

Verse 4 tells us to look to God and call on Him who is in heaven on His throne. We are to enforce God’s kingdom rule on the earth now. We are to preach, pray, and prophesy the outcome from God’s perspective- one of victory. Yes, even those who are not called to be preachers or prophets can do this- and should do it.

In verse 5, we are to watch what we see and hear. Don’t participate in violence and wickedness, but proclaim and live out righteousness and truth.

Verse 6 tells us that God will judge the wicked. This verse ties to Genesis 19:1-29, where God rained fire and m=brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah. It is a picture of judgment of the wicked (II Peter 2:6,9).

Verse 7 explains that the Lord loves the righteous and His face beholds, or looks upon, them.

We all have a choice. We can let the wicked shove their wickedness down our throats, or we can fight back with God’s truth, walking uprightly and declaring that God is God. God is alive and He rules from heaven, and we are to work with Him to bring His rule of righteousness now on the earth. We will protect and rebuild our foundations, based on biblical values. Wickedness will be put down, righteousness exalted, and our nation will be all God planned for it to be. The United States of America will be a light to the nations so we may take the full gospel to the ends of the earth, proclaiming that Jesus is Lord!
